Weekly notes: week ending 2026-11-01
Releases
- agentic-job: a steady stream of
build-*releases, 29 of them listed here, from one on 25 October to one on 29 October. 37 further releases published in the week are not listed.
Highlights
bootc and bcvk. bootc gained UKI addons (bootc#2448) and --from-delta for bootc switch and bootc update (bootc#2449). It now tells OCI manifest annotations apart from config labels (bootc#2570), makes the storage bind mount namespace private (bootc#2588), and rejects a config stateroot on composefs-only images (bootc#2567). bcvk's ephemeral VMs can have a TPM 2.0 emulated by swtpm (bcvk#411), and bcvk parses UKI files through a minimal composefs-boot dependency (bcvk#397).
A scheduler that picks work back up. agent-board's pass now re-plans an open issue after its implement run (agent-board#348), starts a P0 or P1 issue straight from a plan in its body (agent-board#344), retries a planning request that came back empty (agent-board#358), and revisits a sample of old issues when it has spare capacity (agent-board#375). It also backs off on GitHub's secondary rate limits (agent-board#359) and publishes its holds, WIP limit and pass summary for the review app to show (agent-board#360, agent-board#373).
agentic-job's apply moves to Rust. The Rust apply work landed (agentic-job#2148, #2161, #2132), and apply now routes neutral GitHub mutations natively (agentic-job#2393). That is the base of the approved plan to split safe-outputs out on its own (tracker#1047). The review now asks whether a change should exist before asking whether it works (agentic-job#2193).
Budgets and cache use at the broker. The credential broker serves each consumer its budget grant and attributes usage per request (praxis-credential-broker#42), and agent-board takes its budget from that grant (agent-board#345). The broker's proxy now forwards headers by denylist and logs prompt-cache use (praxis-credential-broker#44). Separately, the issue on the gap in prompt-cache hits between providers was closed (agentic-job#2209).
Lowlights
A reverted wrapper move. Moving the shared wrappers to agentic-job v0.6.4 (actions#136) caused a morning outage on 29 October and was reverted (actions#137). The re-proposal (actions#140) waits for a canary that runs a real dispatch and review through changed wrappers (actions#139), and the canary's trigger is still an open question for the operator.
Refused fix rounds. The 30–31 October reports described the poll repeatedly starting fix rounds on tracker#1050 that the policy step refused, because its branch was outside the fix bounds. At that point it needed a hand fix or a re-land, and held tracker#1062 by overlap.
Waiting on people. Several items stalled on the operator by the week's end. The first part of the Ubuntu 26.04 runner move landed (actions#148), but the rest needs live Renovate proof before actions#146, agent-board#555 and agentic-job#2400 can finish. End-to-end runs against gitlab.com wait on a test account (agentic-job#2110).
